Credit transfers (CT) and Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Credit transfers occurs when an individual already holds a relevant unit(s) of competency from another Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and wishes to use the unit(s) of competency already obtained to credit towards a qualification.

Credit transfers can only occur when the unit(s) map across and are equivalent to the current unit(s).

Proof of documentation is essential for CT to occur.

Recognition of prior learning is the formal acknowledgement of an individual's skills and knowledge obtained through formal learning and experience. RPL can be used to obtain all or part of a qualification.

Fees - credit transfers are free of charge however RPL will incur a fee of $600* with a $150 fee for any additional units to undertake if RPL is not successful. No refunds occur if RPL is not granted.

RPL does not attract government subsidised funding.

*unless otherwise stated.

Withdrawal and/or Refunds

If a student withdraws, by written notice, from government-funded training or further education at any time up until four (4) weeks after the scheduled commencement date of the course, the provider must refund the tuition fees paid in respect of the enrolment in excess of a minimum administration fee of $100, and any other fees and charges paid by or on behalf of the student, for example; police checks.

If a student withdraws, after four (4) weeks of the commencement of the course, the refund will be calculated taking into account tuition, materials and amenities used until formal written notification of withdrawal is received by CEACA.

If a government-funded course is cancelled by CEACA at any time during the period of the student’s enrolment, then it will refund the full tuition fee, the pro-rata portion of any compulsory non-academic fee, subscription or charge and any fees for materials, which have not been used in the course prior to the date of cancellation.

If a student withdraws, by written notice, from only part of a course or if only part of a course is cancelled, CEACA need only refund the portion of the tuition fee and materials fee applicable to that part of the course.
